There are so many technical aspects of roasting from temperature, air pressure to the time it takes to get to first crack. However the problem most home roasters stumble upon is finding good quality green beans at a reasonable price.
The past 6 months has been extremely unstable for coffee buyers. The bulk of our coffee for the entire year has to be bought during the harvest season, the commodity index has soured, and the Au$ has plummeted.
